Dear Member,

This year’s Annual General Meeting for Swan Credit Union, your local community bank.

Date – Thursday 19th March 2020

Venue – The Diamond Room, The Gateway Centre, Aylesbury Vale District Council, Gatehouse Rd, Aylesbury HP19 8FF.

Please join us for refreshments from 6.30pm. The meeting will run from 7pm until 8.30pm.

At the AGM the Credit Union’s Board of Directors report to members on how the credit union is doing, what activity has taken place in the last financial year, and what we’re planning for the year ahead. We are looking forward to telling you about our continuing success in bringing ethical savings and affordable credit to more and more people in our local areas, and about exciting plans to transform how we deliver services.

As a member’s co-operative, we value and welcome your views and involvement.  Everyone attending the AGM is welcome to speak and ask questions of Board members during the meeting. If you would like to submit a question in advance please email us at secretary@swancommunitybank.org.uk. There will also be opportunities to ask questions and speak to your Board and fellow members with refreshments before and after the meeting.

If you would like to join the Board, we warmly invite you to spend some time with us as a volunteer, assisting existing board members. This means that you can see what the role involves and decide whether it suits your skills and the time you have available. Our outgoing Secretary volunteered before joining and found it incredibly useful to help her understand what she could bring to the team before she put herself forward for election. If you are interested in getting involved as a volunteer or prospective board member please email secretary@swancommunitybank.org.uk. We would particularly welcome women and ethnic minority candidates, and those with business leadership experience. Members wishing to stand for election to the Board or Supervisory Committee at the AGM should inform the Secretary in writing by 12th March, including details for the two members proposing and seconding your application.

We also need members to stand for our supervisory (internal audit) committee. You do not need to be a qualified auditor or accountant to take on this role.  Please get in touch at secretary@swancommunitybank.org.uk if you would like to find out more.

Reminder: For those of you who have not recently used your account.

Accounts with less than £100 in shares/savings and which have not been active for the 12 months up to the end of December 2019 (i.e. no savings, loans or withdrawals) will be charged a £10 annual fee to cover the administrative costs of keeping such accounts open. Start saving now to avoid the fee.
